Keeping it clean

We know that your powerchair is about as close to being a part of your body as it can possibly be.

Keeping it clean!

Keeping it fresh and in tip-top condition is as important as how you take care of your own skin. We give you the top 5 tips on soaping up and sudsing down your Magic.

Tip 1 – Soaping it up

We have chairs with different types of materials – vinyl and fabric – but the best type of cleaning agent is a mild detergent and water. Don’t be tempted to use harsh cleaners!

Tip 2 – Wet is not best

Unlike many of us, your chair does NOT enjoy a good soak. If you’re wiping your chair down, make sure your cloth is damp – not soaking. Otherwise, you’ll end up having a bath yourself when you want to use your chair!

Tip 3 – Treat your Joystick with love

A damp cloth is great to wipe down around the base of your joystick, but stick to a lint-free cloth for the screen. And no chemicals! They can damage the screen surface.

Tip 4 – Check the nooks

Down inside the foam cushioning can be a trap for waste, crumbs and dust. Use a soft brush or a vacuum to remove any residue.

Tip 5 – Watch the wear and tear

Many of our fabric chair covers can be put through the washing machine. But for those on vinyl seats, keep your eyes peeled for cracks. You’ll need to get the seat replaced when that happens.
